On Friday - our Scandinavian Outdoor Day - we cooked some bananas filled with squares of chocolate & mini marshmallows inside them, they were declared delicious. These were by far the most successful thing we have cooked & so easy, you just make a small slit in the banana skin & let the children push squares of chocolate and mini marshmallows into the gaps. Then wrap them in tin foil & place them on the grill.
On Monday, it was bitterly cold but dry & we enjoyed being outside for over 2 hours, the tyres were full of ice & the children helped me make an 'ice egg' with these parts from one tyre.
Tuesday was not as cold as the bitter wind had died down but we could only stay out for an hour before some of the children got too cold. Some of the children enjoyed playing 'Captain Hook' on the blocks with sticks & searched for treasure - ice.
Wednesday was a beautiful sunny day, not as cold but with occasional hailstones. The children took longer over snack, chatting with their friends while they enjoyed crackers, fruit, hot chocolate, water or milk.
There were so many great posts linked up last time round but my ultimate favourite was from Our Free Range Family. I loved the whole post from the camp fire in the back garden to the brilliant 'den' the older boys built with their dad.
