Outdoor Play Party - a week of fun

This week we have been having fun outdoors with little or no resources.
The children played with ice, sticks & leaves.
They explored how deep & cold the mud puddle has become in the mud patch.
They enjoyed playing with a large cardboard box, it was a bus & a boat.
They had fun making perfect sandcastles and reading favourite books under the slide.
They enjoyed balancing on the planks & tree stumps.

Autumn or Fall provides the perfect opportunity to have fun with leaves & ice, when it is even colder it is always fun to leave different containers outside filled with water & various items to have fun with ice 'sculptures' the next day.
There were lots of great ideas for getting outdoors & having fun in the last link up but once again I loved this post from Fireflies & Mud Pies on stick play. I love any idea that can be replicated for little or no cost & this was such a one - and it proved that young children can & should be trusted to play with sticks.

How did your kids play outdoors this week?

  2. That mud play looks amazing. Am jealous of the sandpit too - we've just bought a small one.

  3. Thanks, they are loving the mud patch this year & it is the muddiest it's ever been. We used to have a small sandpit too until a wonderful parent built this one for us. You can read about it here: http://nosuchthingasbadweather.blogspot.co.uk/2012/01/outdoor-play-link-up-sand-wonderful.html

    1. Ha - I know classic huh? Developing a reading area under the slide was one of the best things we ever did, thanks Karen.
