Providing real life inspirations.

This structure is inspired by a photo of a child from a previous class.
When an office was being cleared out in the main school a load of old posters from magazines were found & all the teachers were given an chance to look through them & see if we wanted any of them. I chose several ones that were of different structural or architectural places and put them up in the block corner. I wasn't fully expecting that any 3 or 4 year old would try to emulate the structures but was rather hoping to provide something for a discussion point or starting focus for building. I also have some photos of things that other children have built with the materials in the block corner.
Then I forgot about the posters until several months later I saw this structure emerging in the blocks & wanted to catch a photo for this child's portfolio. It was only when I looked at the photo later that I could see that he was actually taking his inspiration from the poster directly behind him. This, once again proves that children thrive when given real, concrete examples to work from.

    1. Thanks Linda - sometime we can underestimate the power of real life examples for young children.
