Painting daffodils

Today the children had fun recreating their representation of a bunch of daffodils.
Children who don't normally embrace my messy art activities loved this activity. Of the 22 in school only 1 chose not to do this and he was just having too much fun where he was to leave.
This just reinforced to me that I must give more time for painting at the table as everyone was so relaxed & did several paintings.

  1. I love this activity - I haven't done any still life paintings with J - he's always just painted but I'm going to try this now - it may need me modelling it as well to get him involved. Thank you for more inspiration.

    1. Hi Cerys, this was the first time I had done it with this class & I was surprised by how intimidated some of them were - but then I think back to my art classes! However I have had years where the class found this an easy task, but I have some perfectionists this year, so that could be it. Kierna

Lovely to see a traditional spring art activity interspersed with your unusual and wacky art!!! Cannot say enough good things about the staff - I am blessed to have a child in this class...

Such concentration and focus! You can feel the sense of calmness just from the pictures.

  5. Kierna,
These daffodils and the children's representations of them are so uplifting - and what a lovely spot of cheer the display of their work made on the wall!
Thanks for this wonderful idea, this is just what me and my children need, I think - I'll be sure to do this soon!
I think it will chase the end of winter blahs away!

    1. Hi Brenda - exactly my thinking, I really could have left this a few weeks but I just needed something bright & cheerful up on the wall. I hope all is well with you, Kierna
