The motto of my nursery class: "Sunshine is delicious, rain is refreshing, wind braces us up, and snow is exhilarating; there is no such thing as bad weather, only different kinds of good weather." John Ruskin 1819-1900

Cloud Dough
I have been amazed at some of the wonderful ideas & recipes for play dough that I have found on the internet and was particularily drawn to a post about cloud dough by Pre-school play.
I couldn't wait to try it & even had the same 'tuff spot' to put it on. For my class of 26 I used 2 bags of flour & 2 bottles of baby oil. It is best outside as it does get everywhere but it is so lovely to play with.
There was always at least 4 children at a time playing with it. It feels like short crust pastry & alot of the children just loved lifting it up & rubbing it between their fingers. It is very cool because you can mould it into silicon bun cases & chocolate moulds. I think that it is destined to become a favourite at Windmill. Pop over to Nurture Store to see some other fab ideas from around the world.

We love this stuff! I call it Cream Dust! AND... if you have children that you are worried that will eat it, you can use an edible oil instead fo baby oil and add some extract for a lovely scent ;)
ReplyDeleteKierna,
ReplyDeleteThe faces of your children say it all!
This is something I'm definitely trying soon.
Brenda
Oh Amy, that sounds nice with the added scent! Brenda - you will love it, it's so soft - quite addictive!
ReplyDeleteI've never heard of this and like the sound of it being made edible with a scent it really looks great fun to do. Will add it to my pin list of things I want to try with the children.
ReplyDeleteHi Rainydaymum - great name! Isn't it great to have pinterest for all these fun things we find :)
ReplyDeleteHello! (Thanks for your comment on my post!) Your recipe is different to mine as you used baby oil, so perhaps that's why it's so different? I was expecting something more like this so I will try again! Thanks :-)
ReplyDeleteisn't it amazing the difference the baby oil makes? Loved your sparkly stuff tho' - might try that at Christmas.
ReplyDeleteWe did it again, using a version of your recipe! LOVELY! I would even describe it as Moon Sand or mouldable sand- it does SO much! Thanks! (and I linked to you) :-)
ReplyDeleteHey Anna - isn't it gorgeous stuff - yeah the children called it sand because of the colour. Cheers for the link!
